Other Bioware games, I previously mentioned KoToR but other games like Jade Empire and Dragon Age Origins might help scratch your Mass effect-esque itch. The 3rd game is the biggest and has the most exploration. The 2nd in particular has choices that have big impact on how the game progresses. The Witcher games, the combat is very different but you still have the exploration and a lot of choices. Out of the bunch Fallout 4 is the best shooter but New Vegas is the more choicey with better writing.įor games with a similar structure to Mass Effect with a lot of choice I suggest: I can't really think of games with similar combat that mixes shooters and RPGs other than the newer fallout games.
The only other space exploration RPG I can think of is Anachronox but I havent actually played that myself. I tend to think of KoToR as Mass Effect 0. The first game was even developed by Bioware. The combat is quite different, but the morality and planet exploration are quite similar. Probably the most similar games would be Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KoToR) 1 and 2.
